Grupo Fórmula

Grupo Fórmula

Multimedia group is primarily present on the radio through more than 100 stations in Mexico and United States. Besides that, it has pay-TV, website and a company for outdoor advertising. Through the dozens stations throughout the country, Grupo Fórmula is one of the media companies with largest coverage and impact over the Mexican audience.

It is typical for it to employ journalists and commentators linked to Televisa, the biggest open TV network in the country headed by the cousin of the owner, Emilio Azcárraga. The closeness of the editorial policies of Grupo Fórmula and Grupo Televisa has provoked protests among the audience. For example in 2006 a building of Grupo Fórmula was surrounded by protesters that accused them for biased coverage in favour of the then presidential candidate and later Mexican president Felipe Calderón.

The alleged closeness with the federal government has made Grupo Fórmula one of the media group that receives most resources for governmental publicity: it received 269 millions of Mexican pesos in 2016.

In the same year, Grupo Fórmula tried to purchase one new open TV network, but abandoned that idea and chose to win more presence on national level with the cable TV company Dish.

In January 2018, Grupo Fórmula informed that the new News Director of the company is Arturo González Orduño. The latter is a journalist close to PRI, who in 2010 was public servant in the government of the State of Puebla holding the position of General Director of Information and Communication System, and after that he was media coordiantor for the PRI candidate for governor for the State of Puebla, Javier López Zavala.
